Our Favorite August Traveler Photo

Our favorite travel photo from August 2013 comes from three traveling ladies: Sarah Marie, Darcy, and Joelle who hail from various parts of the United States. Their trip to Brazil was planned by our destination expert Kristina Rudge.

We love the Iguazu waterfalls in the background and the detailed recap of their Brazil travel experience. If you’re thinking about traveling to Brazil, you may find their testimonial especially helpful. We’ve inserted some useful links into this travel testimonial for those interested in further reading.

Top SA Luxury Expeditions Review and Photo from August

“We were absolutely thrilled with my 40th birthday trip. Thank you, Kristina, and SA Luxury Expeditions for providing us with a perfect itinerary that balanced touring and relaxation, impeccable luxury accommodations, and experienced and likeable guides. Thank you so much!

The Copacabana Palace was stunning, our room was excellent; the suite was perfect for three sisters. The view was incredible (this is true of both hotels). The restaurants were all excellent. Our favorite was Paris – truly unique and beautiful venue. We don’t know Portuguese nor French (the menu was in both), which added to the adventure.

Our guide Miriam was delightful. She seemed to be under the impression that we wanted to do high end shopping, but once we dispelled her of that notion, everything was really wonderful. She even guided us through the outbound airport, which is a level of service I’ve never received before. The tours in Rio were great; a really wonderful bonus was a stop at the Carnival parade grounds, where we tried on a costume – what a blast! The museum was pretty boring, but we went through it quickly. Chris the Redeemer was a major highlight, and we loved the train ride to the peak.

In Rio on the first late afternoon, we took a long stroll from Copacabana beach to Ipanema and loved eating fresh shrimp and watching the sunset in a shack on the sidewalk. We also had lunch at Cervantes, which was recommended by a friend for yummy sandwiches. We had a different driver every day so we didn’t bond, and they all seemed professional.

Das Cataras was another lovely hotel.  It was nicely self-contained.  The pool-side restaurant (served Brazilian bbq for dinner) was excellent and the pool beautiful. There is an absolutely darling bar tender named Paulo who treated us right both by the pool and in the bar. He was dead set on making sure we tried lots of different cachaças.

Our first tour on the Brazil side of the falls was brief but excellent. Indiamara is an adorable woman who greeted up upon arrival with hugs and kisses. The Argentine tour was a highlight for me; we just loved it and couldn’t believe the breadth of the falls and the beauty of the natural surroundings.”
